The face-off in Najaf continues. The rebel cleric Moqtada al-Sadr sits in the Holy Shrine with his band of loyal "freedom-fighters" armed to the teeth, while the American forces amass outside the walls, aware of the political implications of attacking a holy site. This posturing of inflated archetypal "super-egos" reminded me of the late, unlamented 1970's TV farce "Jeux Sans Frontieres" where ordinary sized people dressed in oversized foam models and battered hell out of eachother.
