editorial cartoons

After admitting the insensitivity of allowing an editorial to appear in The Spectator accusing Liverpool of being a self-pitying, over-emoting city, following that city's display of public grief over the Ken Bigley execution in Iraq, Boris Johnson is sent off to Liverpool by Michael Howard to grovel at the feet of any Scouse he can find. Howard, using a rather appropriate metaphor, says he "cut his political teeth" in Liverpool (to a sharp, fang-like point, presumably), reminding us of what fine, special people all Scousers everywhere are. I couldn't get the image of Harry Enfield's poodle-permed Scouse characters out of my head.
