The bulldozers move into
the Gaza settlements, as the last settlers are rmoved from their
homes without too much protest. This could be seen as a clever
balancing act on the part of the wily old Sharon. On the one side,
he has the Zionist right baying for his blood as a traitor by
acceding "sacred" territory in Gaza, and on the other,
he is suspected of giving up the arid, useless strip of land as
a sop to the Palestinians, while preparing to tighten his grip
on the more viable, larger teritories on the West Bank. Will he
get the balance just right?
