Saddam Hussein is put
on trial afresh, this time for genocide and crimes against humanity
over the killing of more than 100,000 Kurds during "Operation
Anfal" in 1988. He uses the "pompous outrage" defence,
refusing to acknowledge the court, and maintains he is still rightful
president of Iraq. Of course, he's knee-deep in the blood of his
own people, but the cast of characters in his wardrobe is immensely
entertaining and, no doubt, great for the networks back in the
USA, deflecting attention from the horrors on the streets of Baghdad.
