The polls are looking bleak as the weather turns wintry. It doesn't look to be a good start to 2008 for Gordon Brown. The Tories are still topping 40% in most polls and are looking their best since the early nineties. The chance of using Gillray's well-known print "Very Slippy Weather" showing the bleak winter of 1808 was irresistible. The inescapable truth seem to be that Brown - considered the great strategist when in the shadows of Blair - has very definitely slipped up. A gloating little poodle looks on from stage left.
